Home Based Work Provides The Perfect Mix
With the economic climate changing and child care costs rising, and increasing number of workers are looking for home based opportunities
which allow them to both meet their family's needs whilst bringing in an income.
Prior to starting her family, Alyssa was successfully working her way up the career ladder in the hospitality industry. But hospitality
and a young family are not a good mix, and with no family support nearby and not wanting to put her children into childcare, Alyssa began
to look for a job that would allow her to have a true work/life balance - a job she could do at home.
"It wasn't easy," said Alyssa. "There are a lot of scams were people ask you to pay money up front with the promise of earning big
bucks."
Alyssa eventually landed a job as a Personal Assistant with Urban Promotions, a highly successful coupon booklet company, and has never
looked back. "I call myself a Virtual Assistant," laughed Alyssa. "It was six months before I even met my colleagues."
So what's the secret to successfully working from home? "I'm very organized and have excellent time management skills," explained
Alyssa. "I generally work when my baby is sleeping or when she is happily playing, and try to get two to four hours work done each day.
Like most home based workers will tell you, Alyssa agrees that people who work from home are much more efficient. "Time is so
precious - you give 110% all the time."
Other benefits of working from home include being able to orgnaise your work around family needs, not to mention the time and money
saved by not having to commute to and from work.
